Nickname: Lily the Pink
Description:
I am a South African who moved to the UK nearly 3 years ago. My eldest daughter left 12 years ago, then my son 10 years ago and then we found out we were going to be grand-parents. When our youngest daughter said she was going & in light of me having got breast cancer we sold our home of 20 years, business of 25 years and our commercial property and moved here. My Mom was born in Nottingham and met my Dad who was a South African here when he was in the Royal Navy - he joined when he was 15 and fought in WWII in Royal navy as a gunnery rating.
My BC Story So Far:
2005 March had a routine mammogram. Radiologist spotted thickening with calcification and biopsy was carried out. Mastectomy - right side was performed in May 2005 and I was on Femara for 5 years. Had a breast reconstruction done in 2006 - tram flap.
