My BC Story So Far:
Family history of breast cancer - my mum, aunt and great aunt have died from it. Last November I had a sore nipple - ultrasound showed up a lump behind it which was biopsied - this was normal. Then had the nipple biopsied - just showed up an inflammatory response. Then ultrasound showed up micro-calcifications - they biopsied the breast in three areas. All these showed up abnormal cells - not cancer, the consultant said, but may or may not become cancer in the future. Now waiting for gene testing - if I have BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene I will need a mastectomy, I was told.
Latest news April 2010 - DCIS right breast
23 May - home from hospital after bi-lateral mastectomies, DIEP flap reconstruction and sentinel node biopsy
